Residents of Pasir Putih, Sawangan, West Java, were startled by the appearance of a ghostly figure wrapped in a shroud. Police have stepped in to investigate the incident that went viral on social media.
From a circulating photo on Friday, April 24, 2026, a resident sent a photo of the ghostly figure standing in front of a resident’s house door in a WhatsApp group. In the WhatsApp group, residents shared information about the sighting.
Residents also mentioned that the ghostly figure roamed around the Gang Nangka area in Pasir Putih, Sawangan, Depok. It was said to have wandered around and even visited some residents.
Several residents experienced fainting spells after the ghostly figure approached them. According to residents’ accounts, the figure asked for its bindings to be untied.
Contacted separately, the Bojongsari Police Chief stated that the authorities would follow up on the viral news. This is to verify its truth.
“We will follow up on that information,” the official said when contacted.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Depok Metro Police mentioned that they are coordinating with the Bojongsari Police to prevent hoax information that could disturb residents.
“We are coordinating first with the Bojongsari Police. This is done to prevent hoaxes that could upset the community,” the officer said.
“We will investigate the truth first, to avoid causing hoaxes that disturb the public,” they added.
