Bandung –
The five daily prayers are an obligatory act of worship that Muslims must perform every day throughout their lives.
In Surah Al Baqarah, verse 43, Allah SWT calls upon His servants to establish prayer and give zakah. He says:
Wa aqeemus salata wa aatuz zakata warka’oo ma’ar raki’een
Meaning: “And establish prayer, give zakah, and bow with those who bow.” (QS. Al Baqarah: 43)
Prayer also brings many blessings to Muslims. Based on a hadith narrated by Ahmad, from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar radhiyallahu ‘anhuma, the Messenger of Allah SAW reminded about prayer one day and then said:
Man haafaza ‘alayhaa kaanat lahu nooran, wa burhaanan, wa najaatan yawmal qiyaamah, wa man lam yuhaafiz ‘alayhaa lam yakun lahu noor, wa laa burhaan, wa laa najaah, wa kaana yawmal qiyaamah ma’a Qaaroon, wa Fir’awn, wa Haamaan, wa Ubayy bin Khalaf
Meaning: “Whoever guards his prayer will have light, proof, and salvation on the Day of Resurrection. But whoever does not guard his prayer will have no light, no proof, and no salvation. And on the Day of Resurrection, he will be gathered with Qarun, Pharaoh, Haman, and Ubayy bin Khalaf.” (HR Ahmad)
