Since the formation of the Ultra Micro Holding (UMi) over the past five years, the BRI Group has consistently demonstrated strong performance in expanding financial inclusion, particularly for the ultra-micro segment in Indonesia.

Through the synergy of BRI as the parent company, along with PT Pegadaian and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), this financial services ecosystem has been continuously strengthened, reaching communities at the grassroots level.

One concrete example of this synergy is the development of the BRILink Mekaar Agent, which provides closer, easier, and more affordable access to financial services.

The strengthening of this role is reflected in the significant growth of the network. As of March 2026, the number of BRILink Mekaar Agents reached 426,000 agents, with 2.68 million transactions and a volume of IDR 3.52 trillion, indicating high utilization of services at the community level.

BRILink Mekaar Agents are customers of the Mekaar program (Fostering Prosperous Family Economy), run by PNM, which focuses on empowering underprivileged women through group-based financing. In its development, these agents, particularly Mekaar group leaders, are empowered by the BRI Group to become an extension of banking services in their neighborhoods, handling transactions such as transfers, cash withdrawals, and bill payments.

Through this initiative, community members who become BRILink Mekaar Agents not only earn additional income from transaction fee sharing, but also actively contribute to expanding access to financial services for underprivileged communities. Their presence also strengthens the role of communities as drivers of more equitable financial inclusion.

Furthermore, this initiative encourages the widespread opening of Simpedes UMi accounts, while also accelerating the upgrading process for approximately 1.4 million PNM debtors throughout 2025 through the use of Pegadaian and BRI products and services.

“BRI is striving to build an ecosystem based on a sharing economy by involving the community as financial service agents. Synergy within the Ultra Micro Holding is a strategic step in addressing the challenges of financial inclusion in Indonesia. Along with its development, the role of BRILink Mekaar Agents has transformed from merely a transaction service provider into a lifestyle micro provider, which not only serves basic financial needs but also supports broader community economic activities,” it was stated.

The BRILink Mekaar Agent initiative is also in line with the Government’s Asta Cita, particularly in building the economy from villages and from the bottom up to promote equity and poverty alleviation.

“With a focus on strengthening the people’s economy, BRILink Mekaar Agents not only function as a distribution channel for financial services, but also become important infrastructure in driving community economic activities. This strategic role makes BRILink Agents one of BRI’s main pillars in expanding financial inclusion, especially for the unbankable segment,” it concluded.
