Depok

The Mayor of Depok, Supian Suri, inspected a traffic congestion point in Cinere, Depok. What is the situation at the congested intersection located at Mega Cinere, Cinere Raya Road?

On his personal Instagram account, Supian shared that the inspection was prompted by residents’ complaints about reopening the traffic route near Cinere Police Station. This is believed to help reduce congestion.

Supian then checked the problematic spot. He stated that the congestion at the Mega Cinere intersection on Cinere Raya Road is a shared responsibility.

“If we want a quick solution, we don’t necessarily have to relocate anything, but we can improve access here. This needs to be simplified, but it remains our task,” said Supian during the inspection.

“Why isn’t this route being used? (pointing to the road in front of the police station) Reactivate it, and make the other section one-way,” he added.

Observations on Cinere Raya Road at 12:00 PM showed heavy congestion at the Mega Cinere intersection. Vehicle queues stretched from Bukit Cinere Road and Jakarta Road.

The intersection is congested due to the convergence of traffic from Bukit Cinere Raya Road, Jakarta Road, and Cinere Raya Road. This intersection serves as a key route for residents traveling between Depok and Jakarta.

He mentioned that there have been no significant improvements to ease the congestion. Many vehicles also use this route to access the Limo Toll Road.

“Nothing has changed. Many drivers prefer the toll road to avoid traffic. This area is particularly bad,” he said.

Another resident, Agus (34), said the congestion remains unresolved because vehicles from shops along Cinere Raya Road contribute to the problem.

“It’s the same, no changes. Traffic lights won’t help because there are too many shops,” said Agus.

He suggested that congestion could decrease if drivers followed traffic rules. Reopening the road in front of Cinere Police Station might also help.

“The solution is discipline—motorists should follow the rules instead of cutting in. Reopening the police station route could reduce congestion, but the main issue is this intersection,” he said.
