CIKARANG – The head of the Regional Board of the Indonesian Young Activists Community (PD KAMI) in Bekasi Regency, criticized several members of the local legislative council (DPRD), stating that they lack communication skills and tend not to contribute meaningful ideas through legislative products.

“After monitoring for several months, it’s unfortunate that many council members still lack competence. Therefore, we urge the heads of political parties in Bekasi Regency to promptly evaluate their representatives in the DPRD,” he explained.

He emphasized that this evaluation is crucial to ensure that party representatives in the Bekasi DPRD work for the public interest rather than personal gain.

“If DPRD members are still pursuing personal interests, it will lead to chaos. For example, during commission meetings or budget discussions, if they don’t side with the people or communicate poorly, things will fall apart,” he said.

He added that council members should not only speak up during campaign rallies but then remain silent or passive once seated in the DPRD, giving the impression that they only want to enjoy the perks of being legislators.

“It seems like they just want to experience being DPRD members—’Oh, so this is what it’s like to be a council member. Oh, this is the privilege of being a legislator.’ Worse, they only dare to show off on their personal social media,” he remarked.
