Tesla brand value drops 36 percent to 27.6 billion dollars

Tesla remains the most valuable automotive brand in the United States. However, its brand value continues to decline, according to a new report from Brand Finance, a global brand valuation firm.

Reputation challenges and intense competition in the electric vehicle sector have significantly impacted Tesla’s performance. Its brand value fell by 36 percent to 27.6 billion dollars in 2026, dropping three places to sixth globally.

While initiatives in China, such as a major deal to support urban power grids, aim to boost Tesla’s image in key markets, broader challenges and declining consumer confidence have weakened the brand’s overall momentum. Tesla’s Brand Strength Index score also dropped further, now at 55.8 out of 100. Brand Finance research reveals declines across key metrics, with significant drops in reputation and consideration.
