On the 23rd, the Hakodate Central Police Station in Hokkaido arrested a 62-year-old man who claims to be an associate professor at Hokkaido University, residing in Hakodate City, on suspicion of violating the Stalker Control Law.

The man is suspected of stalking a female acquaintance in her 40s, who lives in the Oshima Promotion Bureau area, between August 5, 2024, and October 6, 2025. He allegedly made demands without obligation, such as saying “I want to meet you” via LINE, and on April 13, 2026, he repeatedly called the woman’s smartphone.

According to the police, the woman consulted them on April 21, leading to the recognition of the case and subsequent arrest of the man.

In response to the investigation, the man partially denies the charges, stating, “I admit to doing it, but I did not do anything that would upset her.”
