Bandung –
Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan responded to the issue of 3,144 honorary teachers who have not received their salaries. He promised to resolve the problem within this week.
Initially, Farhan apologized if thousands of honorary teachers have not received their salaries since January 2026. He stated that the budget for the salaries of these honorary teachers is available, but it cannot be disbursed yet.
“I find it quite difficult to say this. The budget is there, but for its disbursement, we indeed have to wait for approval from many parties. So, we must carry out proper administration and have good legal foundations,” he said at Bandung City Hall on Thursday (April 23, 2026).
“Because in any case, we have to manage finances well. So, I sincerely apologize for the delay for the honorary teachers,” he added.
Farhan assured that the salary issue for honorary teachers can be resolved this week. This is because the Bandung City Government has prepared a budget of IDR 51 billion for educators such as teachers, tutors, and early childhood education teachers.
“We have found a clear path. Hopefully, this week the recommendation letter will be issued, I can immediately issue the mayoral decree, and the funds will be disbursed,” he said.
Farhan emphasized that the budget for honorary teachers has been allocated. Once the regulations are approved, the budget can be disbursed to meet the salary needs of thousands of honorary teachers in Bandung City.
“We are currently waiting for approval from the Ministry of Finance. Once the Ministry of Finance agrees, the funds will be disbursed. The target is this week, because it’s already been 4 months of waiting. It’s sad, I feel sorry for them,” he concluded.
