A foreign national was found dead in the bathroom of the detention room at the office on Tuesday (April 21, 2026).

The victim, identified by the initials DJR, aged 53, was detained on Monday (April 20, 2026) in connection with an alleged residence permit violation.

The Head of the Depok Immigration Office, Irvan Triansyah, explained that DJR was found by officers in an unconscious condition.

“On Tuesday, around 3:45 PM local time, officers received a report of suspicion regarding the condition of a detainee in the bathroom of the detention room,” said Irvan on Wednesday (April 22, 2026).

After being found, officers conducted an initial check, but no response was detected.

To confirm the individual’s condition, officers immediately took action to force open the bathroom door.

“After the door was successfully opened, the detainee was found in an unconscious state,” he stated.

Officers immediately coordinated with the police and health facilities for further handling.

Based on the results of the police examination, the individual was declared dead.

Depok Immigration confirmed that the handling process was carried out professionally, transparently, and with a principle of caution.

Regarding the incident, Irvan also expressed deep condolences for this event.

“We express our deepest condolences for the death of DJR. We are committed to handling this incident professionally and responsibly,” he emphasized.

Immigration has also and will continue to coordinate with the police, representatives of the British government, and family in Indonesia to ensure good communication and further handling.
