A special task force for motor vehicle theft crimes formed by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Police successfully arrested 10 perpetrators during April 2026.
This disclosure is a follow-up to 12 police reports from 12 crime scenes handled by the South Tangerang Police Criminal Investigation Unit together with the sector police criminal investigation units.
“From these results, we secured a total of 10 suspects who often operated in the South Tangerang area and its surroundings,” he said, Wednesday, April 23, 2026.
Furthermore, from the arrests, officers also secured a number of evidence of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.
“There are 22 motorcycles of various brands, 1 Colt Diesel truck unit, 1 L300 box truck unit, 2 Avanza car units, as well as other evidence such as T-shaped keys,” he added.
Of the 10 suspects secured, some were recidivists.
“The modus operandi used is still classic, namely using T-shaped keys or magnets,” he said.
For people who have filed a police report or feel they have lost a motor vehicle, they can come to the South Tangerang Police by bringing proof of the police report and proof of vehicle ownership documents.
This is done for the vehicle identification process, considering that some of the secured motor vehicle evidence was found with the chassis number and engine number removed.
