The Central Leadership Board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle has decided to replace the chairman of the Surabaya City Regional House of Representatives as part of the party’s organizational mechanism, which operates according to regulations.

The decision was made as a follow-up to the passing of the previous chairman, the late Adi Sutarwijono. The party remembers him as a dedicated figure in carrying out the people’s mandate.

“May the deceased receive the best place beside the Almighty God, and may the family left behind be given strength,” said the Deputy Chairman for the Electoral Affairs of the East Java Regional Leadership Board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Didik Prasetiyono, on Wednesday (April 22, 2026).

Through a decree from the Central Leadership Board, H. Syaifuddin Zuhri, S.Sos., has been appointed as the Chairman of the Surabaya City Regional House of Representatives for the 2024–2029 term. This appointment is part of the organizational mandate that must be carried out with full responsibility.

Didik emphasized that the position of Chairman of the Regional House of Representatives is not merely a structural role, but a form of public trust that must be upheld with integrity, humility, and commitment to the interests of the people.

“This mandate demands seriousness in fighting for the aspirations of the community, maintaining the dignity of the legislative institution, and ensuring that oversight and budgeting functions are carried out in favor of the people,” he explained.

He added that the entire process of ratification and appointment is expected to proceed according to applicable mechanisms, accompanied by solid internal consolidation so that the wheels of the organization and government remain stable.

The East Java Regional Leadership Board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle also invites all cadres to support the decision as a form of organizational discipline.

“Every mandate from the Central Leadership Board is a trust that must be upheld and implemented as best as possible,” said Didik.

In the end, he continued, the main goal is to ensure that the presence of the Regional House of Representatives is truly felt by the community through concrete, responsive work that prioritizes the interests of the people.
