The 13th batch of remains of Chinese People’s Volunteer Army martyrs from the Republic of Korea was brought back to Shenyang, Liaoning, on the morning of April 22 by a Chinese Air Force Y-20B aircraft. The spirits of 12 volunteer martyrs and 146 artifacts returned to the motherland.

On the morning of the 22nd, a handover ceremony for the remains of volunteer martyrs was held at Incheon International Airport in the Republic of Korea. At around 9:50 a.m., the Y-20B, call sign “Return Glory 50,” took off. After entering Chinese airspace, four J-20 fighter jets, call sign “Red Eagle,” escorted it in a salute, with the “dual-20” formation paying high tribute in the sky. At 11:25 a.m., the Y-20B landed smoothly at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, where the highest water cannon salute honored the martyrs.

At 11:53 a.m., the ceremony to welcome the 13th batch of volunteer martyrs’ remains began. Soldiers stood solemnly in formation with rifles, while honor guards gently carried the caskets covered with the five-star red flag, slowly descending from the plane and placing them neatly in designated positions. All attendees bowed three times to the caskets.

Over 1,800 people participated in the ceremony, including veterans of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, representatives of martyrs’ families, representatives of heroic volunteer units, the Shenzhou-20 astronaut crew, Olympic athletes, teachers and students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and young student representatives.

After the ceremony, the caskets were escorted to the Shenyang Anti-U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea Martyrs’ Cemetery. On the spring-filled streets of Shenyang, citizens lined the roads to pay respects to the volunteer martyrs. The burial ceremony for the 13th batch of volunteer martyrs’ remains will be held on April 23.
