On April 22, the Chongqing Transportation Development and Investment Group’s Transportation Construction Management Company reported good news: the left track of the Chongqing Vocational College of Urban Management Station to Chongqing University of Science and Technology Station section of the second phase of Rail Transit Line 15 (Zengjia to Jiuguhe East Station) has been laid, marking the completion of track laying on the entire main line of Line 15 (Zengjia to Liangjiang Film City).

The track laying project for the second phase of Line 15 is large in scale and wide in coverage, encompassing 90 kilometers of track, 57.2 kilometers of evacuation platforms, and 3.7 kilometers of sound barriers. The construction scope fully covers the main line, auxiliary lines, entry and exit lines, and the Zhangjiawan vehicle base, making it one of the core projects to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the line.

Currently, the first phase of Rail Transit Line 15 has also entered the final sprint phase before opening. The completion of track laying for the second phase means that the overall construction of the entire line is accelerating.

As the first urban rail express line in downtown Chongqing, Line 15 is designed with a speed of 140 kilometers per hour. It is a key transportation corridor connecting the airport, high-speed rail stations, and the city’s core areas. The line spans approximately 72 kilometers and includes 25 underground stations, running from Zengjia to Liangjiang Film City.

Once the second phase of Line 15 is operational, it will efficiently connect multiple important areas such as the Western (Chongqing) Science City, Shapingba District, and Liangjiang New Area, significantly reducing cross-regional commuting time and effectively facilitating public travel.

The completion and operation of this line will further improve the layout of Chongqing’s rail transit network, address cross-regional transportation shortcomings, inject strong momentum into the construction of a “rail-based metropolitan area,” and provide solid transportation support for the high-quality development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
