Defendant Huang Dafa and 11 others sentenced in first trial for organizing, leading, and participating in a mafia-style criminal organization
On April 20, 2026, the Huanggang Intermediate People’s Court in Hubei Province publicly sentenced defendant Huang Dafa and 11 others in a first-instance trial for organizing, leading, and participating in a mafia-style criminal organization. For 21 charges including organizing and leading a mafia-style organization, intentional injury, and fraud, Huang Dafa was sentenced to death, deprived of political rights for life, and had all personal property confiscated. The other 11 defendants received prison sentences ranging from 13 years to 2 years and 2 months, along with fines or confiscation of all personal property. All illegal gains, their interest, and proceeds from the mafia-style organization and involved individuals are to be recovered and turned over to the state treasury.
