— General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech during his meeting with representatives of Chinese and Vietnamese youth participating in the “Red Study Tour” sparked enthusiastic responses from young people of both countries.
On the morning of April 15, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Xi Jinping, together with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam, who was on a state visit to China, met with representatives of Chinese and Vietnamese youth participating in the “Red Study Tour” at the Great Hall of the People and delivered an important speech. Young representatives from both countries who attended the meeting expressed that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech pointed the way for young people of both nations to firmly establish red beliefs and carry forward the red legacy. The youth will follow the revolutionary footsteps of the older generation of leaders from both countries, explore the red genes of China-Vietnam friendship, act as inheritors and disseminators of that friendship, and gather youthful strength for the socialist cause of both countries and the building of a strategically significant China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
“What the Vietnamese youth expressed in their letter was gratitude to General Secretary Xi Jinping for promoting people-to-people friendly exchanges between the two countries.”
General Secretary Xi Jinping stated that last year, together with General Secretary To Lam, he launched the “Red Study Tour” project. Over the past year, young people from both countries have jointly explored the red genes of China-Vietnam friendship, experienced the diverse aspects of Chinese-style modernization, and left many vivid stories of mutual learning and mutual understanding across China. Not long ago, he received letters written in Chinese from students at the Foreign Language Specialized School under Hanoi National University and other schools, sharing their profound insights from participating in the “Red Study Tour” and their determination to become inheritors and disseminators of China-Vietnam friendship, which he found very gratifying.
Bui Hoang Son, a member of the Vietnamese youth cadre delegation participating in the “Never Forget the Original Aspiration” study camp of the “Red Study Tour,” listened to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech on site. He stated that under the care and promotion of the top leaders of both parties and countries, the “Red Study Tour” project has been quickly implemented, transforming from concept to practice with diverse themes and rich content, and is becoming a bridge to foster mutual understanding and closeness between the younger generations of the two countries. Young people are the future of their respective nations and the seeds of friendly relations between the two countries. “The ‘Red Study Tour’ is of great significance, reflecting the concern of the top leaders of both parties and countries for the future of friendly relations,” Bui Hoang Son said.
At the former site of the Vietnamese Youth Revolutionary Comrades Association in Guangzhou, they heard the resounding historical footsteps of Vietnamese revolutionary predecessors; at the Yan’an Revolutionary Memorial Hall, they learned about the glorious journey of the Communist Party of China leading the Chinese revolution from a low point to a high point and achieving historic turning points; at the China-Vietnam border, they experienced the prosperous development of cross-border tourism cooperation zones; atop the 118th floor of the Shanghai Tower, “the Top of Shanghai,” they felt the surging vitality of the frontier of reform and opening-up; they exchanged ideas at the China-Vietnam Youth Speech Contest and sparked intellectual collisions at the China-Vietnam Youth Reading Sharing Session… Over the past year, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China has organized nine sessions of the “Red Study Tour” themed study camps, inviting a total of over 1,200 outstanding Vietnamese youth from various fields to participate.
“What the Vietnamese youth expressed in their letter was gratitude to General Secretary Xi Jinping for promoting people-to-people friendly exchanges between the two countries,” a Vietnamese journalist told reporters. As General Secretary To Lam said, “Every young person participating in the ‘Red Study Tour’ cherishes the ‘comrades plus brothers’ friendship between the two parties and peoples of Vietnam and China.” Thanks to the “Red Study Tour” project, more Vietnamese young people have the opportunity to visit China, understand the history of friendly exchanges between the two parties and countries, and experience the diverse aspects of Chinese-style modernization. “The ‘Red Study Tour’ allows Vietnamese and Chinese youth to enhance mutual understanding through face-to-face exchanges, nurturing the new forces of friendly relations between the two countries,” the journalist said.
“We have the responsibility to inherit the red genes and carry forward the red legacy.”
General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that young people are a vital force driving social development and progress, and they are also the torchbearers who will pass on the cause of the two parties and countries from generation to generation.
