Bekasi –
A teenage girl in North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, with the initials B (15), was reported missing for 13 days after leaving her home. The Metro Bekasi Police managed to track her down and found the teenager safe at Cibitung Station.
It was revealed that the victim had previously been reported missing to the Women and Children Protection Service Unit of the Metro Bekasi Police. The teenager left home two weeks ago following a verbal argument. The victim then disappeared without a trace.
“From the investigation, it is known that this incident began with a quarrel between the victim, who is an 11th-grade vocational high school student, and her sibling at home. In the heat of the moment, the mother briefly told the child to leave,” a spokesperson stated.
The family had made various search efforts, from asking at the school, friends, to the location of the victim’s field work practice, but to no avail until they finally reported the incident to the authorities.
The officers moved quickly by forming a special team to trace the whereabouts of the missing teenager. The officers finally pinpointed the child’s coordinates using location tracking technology from the mobile phone signal the child was using.
“The tracking ultimately led officers to Cibitung Station, where B was found in good health,” the spokesperson said.
Officers used a persuasive approach with the teenager. Through communication and emotional mediation, the victim finally agreed to return home after learning her mother had been searching for her for nearly two weeks, filled with worry.
“Thankfully, B has now returned home and is reunited with her family,” they said.
The successful discovery of this missing child is also tangible proof of the police’s success in protecting the community, especially women and children.
The girl’s parents expressed their gratitude for the assistance from the Metro Bekasi police ranks. The teenager is now back together with her family.
“I am grateful for the help in finding my child, whom I had been searching for for 13 days,” the biological mother said emotionally.
