Significant help for drivers: PBBM highlights over P20/L rollback in diesel.
The Department of Energy (DOE) announced this Sunday a massive price rollback for petroleum products scheduled to take effect this week, which, according to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., will be a great help to drivers, commuters, and every Filipino family.
Based on the latest projections from the DOE, the price of diesel is expected to decrease by P20.89 per liter. There will also be a rollback of P8.50 per liter for kerosene and P4.43 per liter for gasoline.
This enormous rollback is expected to begin from April 14 until April 20.
This is based on the average of the last five days’ prices in the global market compared to the average from the previous week.
Furthermore, although not all gas stations have the same prices, the mentioned amounts should be the minimum price reduction.
Despite this, it was acknowledged that it is unlikely for gasoline and diesel prices to return to P60 per liter due to the structural damage caused by tensions in the Middle East.
“If the war lasts only two weeks, prices will go down. But the structural damage has already been done. It will take a long time to fix the facilities,” was the explanation given.
“I cannot predict what the lowest point we will reach will be. We might not reach levels like before, where diesel was P60 per liter here,” the DOE chief added.
President Marcos stated that his administration will do much more to alleviate the effect of the oil crisis on Filipinos.
“We will not stop until we have reduced the cost of travel, food, and the overall cost of living for our fellow citizens,” according to the President’s video message this Sunday.

Middle East
The Middle East is a transcontinental region centered on Western Asia and parts of North Africa, historically known as the “Cradle of Civilization” for the rise of early societies like Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. It is the birthplace of major world religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—and has been a crossroads of trade and empires for millennia, from the Persians and Ottomans to modern nation-states. Its contemporary history is deeply shaped by the discovery of vast oil reserves in the 20th century, geopolitical conflicts, and its profound cultural and religious influence globally.
