A print media journalist has secured third place in the print media category of the 2025 Presidential Cup Media Works Competition. The award was received following the award ceremony at SCTV Tower, Jakarta.
The winner expressed surprise at making the top three amidst intense competition from hundreds of participants from various regions across Indonesia. The event was attended by journalists, photographers, and content creators who submitted their best works according to their respective categories.
“There were hundreds of participants. I didn’t really have any special preparation; I just submitted my writing with a ‘nothing to lose’ attitude,” the winner stated after receiving the award.
The submitted work was an article that had already been published in the media, as per the competition requirements set by the committee. Submission of works was conducted online via email to the organizers.
In the article, the winner highlighted a different aspect of the Presidential Cup event, specifically concerning the prestige of the final match which featured international clubs, Oxford United from England and Port FC from Thailand.
According to the winner, the match was not just an ordinary football duel, but a symbol of the rising competition level and the global appeal of the pre-season tournament in Indonesia.
“The final was interesting because it featured foreign teams. It shows the Presidential Cup has its own appeal and prestige,” they said.
Beyond the match itself, the article also spotlighted the economic impact generated by the hosting of the Presidential Cup, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) around the match venue.
The winner considered the boost to the local economy as one of the important aspects often overlooked, despite providing tangible benefits to the community.
“Events like this stimulate the local economy, from small traders to the service sector. That’s what I tried to highlight in the article,” they explained.
The 2025 Presidential Cup Media Works Competition itself carried several major themes, including transparency, fair play, achievement, public entertainment, and strengthening the people’s economy through SMEs.
The competition was open to various categories, from print media and online media to television, photography, and social media content, with total prizes reaching tens of millions of rupiah for each category.
The committee required that each submitted work must have been published in its respective media and align with the predetermined themes.
The selection process was conducted rigorously by a panel of judges who assessed the quality of writing, depth of perspective, and relevance to the major themes.
The winner added that this success serves as personal motivation to continue producing sharp and impactful journalistic work.
There is also hope that events like this will continue to be held to provide a space for appreciation for media professionals across Indonesia.
“Hopefully, more journalists will participate in the future, as this serves as a platform to showcase our best work at a national level,” the winner concluded.
