West Bengal Election 2026: The political atmosphere has heated up once again ahead of the upcoming legislative assembly elections in West Bengal. A violent clash during election campaigning in the Basanti Bazar area of South 24 Parganas district has raised questions about law and order. BJP leaders have leveled serious allegations against the state government and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over this incident.

A BJP leader claimed that in Basanti Bazar, some people broke into his party’s office, vandalized it, and assaulted party workers during a rally. He stated that this incident has exposed the security arrangements in the area. According to him, people came, vandalized our office, and attacked during the rally. We are being continuously threatened, and the police are also putting pressure.
BJP Raises Questions on Law and Order
Expressing concern over the state’s law and order, the BJP leader alleged that the police are not working impartially. He claimed that several violent incidents have occurred in recent months, including the deaths of party workers and local people. He said that one worker was beaten to death, and such incidents have happened before. The question is, where is the law and order in the state?
Leader Targets CM Mamata
Criticizing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year rule, the BJP leader said that both development and security have weakened in the state. He alleged that in West Bengal, neither the health system is proper, nor education, nor people’s safety. The state’s condition is continuously deteriorating. Meanwhile, a BJP MP also condemned the Basanti Bazar incident, stating that a large number of attackers targeted party workers. He claimed that when security forces reached the spot, they were also attacked. The MP alleged that an atmosphere of goons and extremist elements prevails in the state, which is promoting political violence.

Security Enhanced Ahead of Elections
Following the clash in Basanti Bazar, the administration has increased security in the area. Police forces have been deployed, and the situation is being monitored. The West Bengal legislative assembly elections will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, while the vote counting will take place on May 4.
