New Delhi. A no-confidence motion brought by the opposition against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was rejected by a voice vote in the House on Wednesday.
During the proceedings, Jagdambika Pal, who was in the chair, called for a voice vote on the motion.
During the vote, the opposition’s motion did not receive sufficient support in the House, leading to its failure.
Consequently, the no-confidence motion against the Speaker was defeated, after which the House proceedings were adjourned until tomorrow.
It is notable that the opposition had presented this motion expressing dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s conduct of proceedings, but it failed to garner support in the voice vote and was thus defeated.
