A film depicting prayers in Mabuni to be released in Tokyo on the 21st, ahead of Okinawa Memorial Day.

The documentary “Mabuni,” which records people praying at the last fierce battle site of Mabuni, where monuments stand in line, will be released at Theater Image Forum from the 21st.

On the hill of Mabuni, there are many memorials, including the “Cornerstone of Peace,” which is engraved with the names of over 240,000 war dead victims.

The film’s protagonist, who survived the Battle of Okinawa at the age of 9 and escaped from a bunker where a mass suicide occurred, has been comforting the souls of the dead by selling flowers in front of a memorial after the war.
