Global crude oil prices have fallen by more than $4 over the past two days. This has had a direct impact on the retail prices of petrol and diesel released on Friday morning.
Oil prices have decreased in many cities across the country, while a slight increase has been recorded in some places. International markets have seen a sharp decline in crude oil prices over the past 24 hours. Brent crude has tumbled by $2.76 to $63.76 per barrel.
Meanwhile, US WTI crude is trading around $59.29 per barrel, down by about $1. The impact of this weakness in crude oil is now being seen in the domestic market as well.
According to government oil companies, in Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, i.e., Noida, petrol has become cheaper by 16 paise and is selling at ₹94.74 per litre. The price of diesel has also fallen by 20 paise and has reached ₹87.81 per litre.
In Ghaziabad, petrol has become more expensive by 12 paise, reaching ₹94.70 per litre, and diesel has increased by 14 paise to ₹87.81 per litre. Consumers in Patna, the capital of Bihar, also got relief today. Here, petrol has fallen by 18 paise to ₹105.23 per litre, while diesel has become cheaper by 17 paise and is selling at ₹91.49 per litre.
There has been no change in petrol and diesel prices today in the country’s four major metros. In Delhi, petrol is ₹94.72 and diesel is ₹87.62 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is ₹103.44 and diesel is ₹89.97; in Chennai, petrol is ₹100.76 and diesel is ₹92.35; and in Kolkata, petrol is available at ₹104.95 and diesel at ₹91.76 per litre.
