The History and Vision Behind “Match Media Seya”

“Match Media Seya” was launched in April 2021 by a group of childhood friends who attended elementary and middle school together in Seya. Amid the pandemic, with more free time, they began considering how to contribute to their local community.

Focusing on Seya Ward—what could they do?

With friends on board, the three of them started the project. Even back then, they were aware of the upcoming 2027 Horticultural Expo. They recognized that Seya’s visibility would rise, especially with the potential for the expo site to become a theme park after the event. However, they also had concerns.

“For example, when people visit Disneyland, most only go to the park and don’t explore Chiba’s Urayasu City. Similarly, visitors to the Horticultural Expo might leave without ever learning about Seya itself—perhaps not even remembering its name.”

They decided to create a channel connecting Seya’s people and its community.

Though new to writing and media, they learned from scratch and launched the website.

Aiming for “In-Depth Media”: Unique and Lasting Content

Today, the editorial team consists of 13 part-time members, including working professionals and students. Their focus is on “delving into stories only they can tell.”

With limited time, timely news coverage is challenging. Instead, they prioritize depth over quantity, striving to create “evergreen content” unique to Match Media Seya.

“Beyond instant updates, we want to share interviews that convey the heartfelt stories of Seya’s residents.”
