【China News】Innovative Products Win Global Consumer Recognition: Insights from „Made in China“ Reflect China’s Economic Resilience

China Daily, May 26 – As a representative of „Made in China“, new energy vehicles are increasingly gaining global consumer recognition. Over the past decade, China’s new energy vehicles have been exported to more than 70 countries and regions worldwide. Data from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment shows that China’s new energy vehicles account for over 70% of global sales, maintaining the top global position for ten consecutive years.

China’s intelligent, environmentally friendly, and stylish new energy vehicles have greatly impressed the young Tianjin resident Raydis Franco, who is now determined to obtain a Chinese driver’s license. He said, „Chinese new energy vehicles are amazing! Once I get my license, I plan to rent one first and then consider buying one. It will be perfect for daily commuting and travel.“

Besides new energy vehicles, Chinese innovations like foldable smartphones, bone conduction headphones, and humanoid robots are frequently „going viral“ on the international stage. Transitioning from a „cheap and low-quality“ stereotype to being driven by technological innovation and industrial upgrading, Chinese product competitiveness has achieved significant leaps. The wave of „Made in China“ is pushing Chinese products to the world with an unprecedented acceptance.

Carlos Alvarado from Costa Rica cannot get enough of his Xiaomi smartphone, saying, „The phone’s functions are rich, it runs smoothly, and its cost-performance ratio is high! Chinese products are of good quality and fairly priced, receiving a warm welcome in Costa Rica.“ He also plans to buy a Chinese washing machine that is both smart and energy-efficient to „relieve his mother from housework duties“.

Despite current geopolitical tensions and rising trade protectionism, China continues to showcase robust economic resilience, relying on an efficient and stable industrial supply chain and a continuously optimized innovation ecosystem. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in April, China’s total import and export volume was 383.91 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year, boosting the overall foreign trade growth of the first four months to 2.4%. Of this, exports were 2.27 trillion yuan, growing by 9.3%; imports were 1.57 trillion yuan, increasing by 0.8%.

Yu Yongding, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stated that the comprehensive strengths of „Made in China“ in industrial chains, product competitiveness, and innovation are crucial in China’s efforts to overcome trade barriers and maintain global free trade systems and international economic order. Mongolia’s Flash News also mentioned in a recently published commentary that while other countries build „small yards and high walls“, China has opened up in terms of economy, culture, and digitalization, not only invigorating domestic market demand but also providing new options for global consumers.

Russian businesswoman Svetlana Olkhovikova, operating in the Tianjin Free Trade Pilot Area, primarily engages in exporting Chinese agricultural machinery and medical equipment, with her business now covering over 20 countries and regions like Russia, Kazakhstan, and Korea.

„Our Chinese collaboration has high efficiency and innovative spirit, the products are also affordable and can be customized. This is backed by China’s strong manufacturing capabilities and high level of specialization,“ said Olkhovikova. „The Chinese market is vast, and many quality products produced here find growing demand overseas, offering endless business opportunities for global entrepreneurs.“

Meanwhile, with the assistance of the domestic AI large model „DeepSeek“, merchants at Zhejiang Yiwu International Trade City transformed into „global sales experts“, effortlessly producing tailored multilingual product introduction videos by simply speaking to a camera, promoting their products worldwide.

Phan Dinh Thang from Vietnam saw the product introduction videos on social media, praising them: „It’s amazing! I saw videos introducing Chinese products in Vietnamese, with very accurate and professional product descriptions, which greatly facilitates our purchases of Chinese products.“

Ksenia Bondarenko, Associate Professor at the Higher School of Economics in Russia, pointed out that „Made in China“ has rapidly emerged in recent years, excelling particularly in areas like artificial intelligence, 5G communication, e-commerce, and electric vehicles. She also believes that amid complex and changing global economic conditions, China’s demonstrated exceptional economic resilience is indeed rare and valuable.
