A grandmother with the initials AA (70) was found dead in her home on Jalan Balai Desa, Medan Helvetia District, Medan City, after allegedly being a victim of robbery. Police stated that the victim had a slash wound on her neck.

“Based on the initial crime scene investigation, there were wounds on the face and a slash wound on the neck,” said the Helvetia Police Chief during a confirmation.

He explained that the wound on the victim’s face was suspected to be from a blunt object. However, the police are still awaiting the results of the victim’s autopsy.

“(The facial wound) appears to be from a blunt object, but we are waiting for the autopsy results for confirmation,” he clarified.

According to the information received, the victim’s husband was also present at the scene during the incident. However, he is elderly and suffers from dementia.

As for the missing items, they included jewelry and mobile phones. The victim is estimated to have suffered losses ranging from Rp 100 to 150 million.

“What is clear is that jewelry and several mobile phones were missing. The estimated loss, based on the victim’s account, is around Rp 100-150 million, but we are still verifying this,” he concluded.

Previously, it was reported that grandmother AA was found dead in her home on Jalan Balai Desa after allegedly being a victim of theft. The victim was discovered dead around 6:00 PM local time. The victim’s child then contacted the police.

“We received information from the victim’s child that their parent was found in a room with injuries (lifeless) and signs of violence (on the victim’s body),” said the Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigation of Medan Police.

There were signs of violence on the victim’s body, with reports indicating that the victim’s throat was slit. The police are currently investigating to uncover the perpetrator.

“We are conducting an investigation to identify the perpetrator. For now, we suspect this was a violent theft, as the victim was found lifeless with signs of violence,” he stated.

He mentioned that several pieces of jewelry and cash were missing. After the incident, the victim’s body was taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Medan for an autopsy.

“For now, based on the victim’s child’s statement, some items are missing, but we cannot provide details yet. There was jewelry, cash, and other items,” he added.
