Despite light rain falling in the Tanjung Beringin sub-district area, the sub-district head personally distributed staple food aid to flood-affected residents at three public kitchen posts.
The three public kitchen posts were located in Dusun IV Sei Lalang and Dusun IV Kebun Sayur, Mangga Dua Village, as well as Pekan Tanjung Beringin Village. A total of 90 family heads in Mangga Dua Village and 41 family heads in Bagan Kuala Village were reported to be affected by the flooding that hit the area.
The sub-district head, along with members of the local leadership coordination forum, including the deputy police chief, military personnel, and health workers from the local community health center, were present to distribute the aid.
“Even though it’s drizzling, I feel empathy for the affected residents, especially the 10 families with babies. I also urge residents to maintain their health and seek immediate treatment if they experience fever or itching due to the flood,” said the sub-district head.
One aid recipient, a resident of Dusun IV Kebun Sayur, expressed being touched by the concern shown by the sub-district head.
“I thank the sub-district head who still came to the field despite the rain. She provided staple food and baby supplies. We feel very cared for,” she said emotionally.
Words of thanks also came from the head of Dusun IV, as well as other residents. They appreciated the sub-district head’s concern for still being present despite the rainy weather.
The heads of Mangga Dua Village and Bagan Kuala Village expressed similar sentiments.
“The local leadership coordination forum showed real concern by distributing staple food and baby supplies even though light rain was falling. This is a real form of government attention to affected residents,” they said.
