On October 18th, the saying “each autumn rain brings more cold” was proven true in Wuhan, as the city experienced rainy and cooling weather. The temperature of 15-18°C set a new record low since the beginning of autumn this year, making the autumn chill even more pronounced.

Around 8 a.m. that morning, the streets of Hankou’s Liberation Avenue and other areas were already filled with autumn atmosphere. Most residents, who had previously worn short sleeves and shirts, had now switched to sweaters, jackets, and other warm autumn clothing to cope with the sudden drop in temperature. Many people hurried through the streets holding umbrellas, their overlapping canopies forming a moving “protective net.” Food delivery riders and couriers wore raincoats as they steadily made their way through the autumn wind and rain. Everyone was well-prepared for the rain and cold, and although the streets felt cooler, order was maintained as usual.

Liberation Avenue

Liberation Avenue is a major thoroughfare in many cities, often named to commemorate a nation’s independence or freedom from colonial rule. For instance, in Accra, Ghana, it is a central road that was renamed from its colonial designation following the country’s liberation in 1957. It often serves as a key route for national parades and public celebrations, symbolizing freedom and national pride.
