The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) successfully dismantled a clandestine laboratory producing crystal methamphetamine that was operating in an apartment in the Cisauk area, Tangerang Regency.
This home-scale laboratory is estimated to have been operating for six months and generated enormous profits of up to Rp1 billion.
According to information, the illegal business run by two repeat offenders was conducted using an organized marketing method to avoid detection.
They used social media and a dead-drop system, a method frequently employed by drug networks.
“Marketing was carried out via mobile phones. They would arrange a meeting at one location, the goods were placed and then monitored from a distance before being picked up by the buyer. However, some were also handed over directly,” the official explained.
During the raid, BNN secured a number of important pieces of evidence related to the crystal meth production process. The seized evidence included liquid and crystal meth, chemical raw materials, and laboratory equipment.
“209.02 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 1,066 grams of ephedrine precursor, 1,503 milliliters of acetone, 400 milliliters of sulfuric acid, 3,434 milliliters of toluene,” were listed.
The official reaffirmed BNN’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking. “We will continue to investigate this network to suppress the production and distribution of narcotics in the Tangerang area and its surroundings,” the statement concluded.
