A bear that had been repeatedly sighted near an elderly care facility in Teine Ward, Sapporo, has appeared again and was eliminated.

It is believed to be the same bear that had been repeatedly appearing in the area.

Gunshots were heard. It appears the bear has been eliminated.

The bear appeared in the mountains behind an elderly care facility in Teine Kaneyama, Teine Ward, Sapporo.

Around 8:00 AM, a report was made to the police stating “a bear was seen from the facility.”

As the bear remained in the area, hunters fired a total of three shots around 11:00 AM and before 1:00 PM, eliminating the animal.

The eliminated bear was a female approximately 1.1 meters in length and is believed to be the same bear that had been repeatedly appearing in this location.

The characteristics match those of the individual spotted yesterday, so it is likely the same bear. The possibility of other bears in the area remains, so continued caution is necessary.
