On the morning of the 18th, a fire occurred in a residential house in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, resulting in one fatality.
The fire broke out in a house in Kawage Town, Tsu City. According to police and fire department reports, around 10:00 AM on the 18th, a neighbor called the fire department reporting “a loud noise and smoke coming from the house.”
The fire was extinguished in about an hour and a half, but the single-story wooden house was completely burned down. One body, whose gender could not be determined, was found in the debris.
Since an 84-year-old man who lived alone in the house cannot be contacted, police and fire authorities are working to identify the body, presumed to be the man, and are investigating the cause of the fire.
