A case of kidnapping and assault of a businessman has emerged in Mumbai, Maharashtra’s capital, related to a gold deal dispute. The incident occurred on the night of October 14, when the victim businessman was standing outside his home. A car then arrived and stopped, and three men and one woman got out. They forcibly made the businessman get into the car and took him to a flat in Parel, where they held him captive.
According to police reports, the accused assaulted the businessman due to a dispute over an old gold transaction. Afterwards, they forcibly took 591 grams of gold from him, valued at approximately 76.23 lakh rupees. Not only that, they also extorted a check for 2.99 lakh rupees and 15 thousand rupees via UPI transfer from the businessman.

The victim was later released, after which he filed a complaint at the LT Marg police station. Police took swift action and have arrested six accused. These include Tark Maiti (35) and Raghunath Maiti (34), both jewelers from Navi, along with Deepak Mahadik (45), his wife Alka Mahadik (35), Rahul Dive (30), and Sunil Gorai (28).
Police reported that a case has been registered against all accused under sections of kidnapping, criminal intimidation, and extortion. The court has remanded them to police custody until October 18. Police have recovered the stolen gold and other items taken from the victim.
