• Kolkata gang-rape case: In the case of the alleged rape of a student from South Calcutta Law College, the lawyer of the main accused claimed that apart from scratch marks, love bites were also found on Monojit Mishra’s body, but the prosecution did not disclose this. Monojit, a former student leader of the TMC, is one of three people arrested for allegedly raping a 24-year-old student inside the law college campus. Monojit has been sent to police custody until July 8.

If it was rape, how were there love bites?

Monojit’s lawyer, Raju Ganguly, said, ‘The prosecution told you that scratch marks were found on the main accused’s body. Did they ever share with you that love bites were also found on Monojit Mishra’s body? If it was rape, there would never be love bites on the accused’s body.’

    Accused Manojit Mishra

The main accused’s lawyer’s claim comes after a medico-legal examination, which also revealed multiple scratch marks on Monojit’s body, indicating signs of resistance by the rape survivor.

    ‘A conspiracy to frame Monojit’

Speaking to the media, Ganguly alleged, ‘There are several inconsistencies in the survivor’s account, so I can confidently say this is a conspiracy to frame my client.’

    Why mention call details?

He also questioned whether the police had seized the survivor’s mobile phone and, if so, whether they had checked her call records. Ganguly said, ‘We asked the prosecution if the survivor’s phone was seized. If yes, was it sent for forensic analysis? Did the police check her call details? Many aspects of this case depend on these details.’

What has happened in the case so far?

The survivor in the Kolkata rape case stated that the alleged rape began inside the guard room. She revealed that Monojit had earlier proposed a romantic and physical relationship, which she clearly refused. He then forced himself on her.

    How brutal were the accused?

The 24-year-old law student, who accused a former student and two current students of gang rape, shared horrifying details of the incident. According to her, she suffered a panic attack during the assault and struggled to breathe. Seeing her condition, the main accused, Monojit Mishra, asked another accused to bring an inhaler to help her. Once she stabilized, they dragged her into the guard room and violated her.

Shocking revelations continue to emerge about Monojit, the main accused. Despite being a former student, he wielded significant influence in the college. Teachers and staff feared him, and no one dared to speak loudly in his presence. A friend of Monojit has also revealed disturbing details about him.

    Allegations against the government

The BJP has accused the Mamata Banerjee-led government of failing to ensure women’s safety, claiming that West Bengal is ruled by lawlessness rather than justice. The gang rape occurred on the evening of June 25, 2025, inside the South Calcutta Law College campus.
