South Tangerang Police are moving quickly to determine the cause of a massive explosion at a pharmaceutical building on Jombang Raya Street, in the Pondok Pucung area of Pondok Aren District.
The Head of Criminal Investigation confirmed that the process of questioning several eyewitnesses and the building’s owner has begun.
“We have taken statements from several people who were near the location at the time of the incident, including the building owner,” he said.
The explosion, which occurred around 8:35 PM, was heard from several kilometers away, causing panic among local residents.
The building that exploded was a three-story pharmaceutical building used as a warehouse for storing medicine.
A Bomb Squad and Forensics team have also been deployed to search through the debris and check for any hazardous materials at the site.
“As of now, our examination is still ongoing to inspect every floor that could potentially contain evidence,” he explained.
There have been no reports of fatalities. However, one toddler was reported to have sustained minor injuries from broken glass and was taken to the nearest hospital.
Police have not yet determined the cause of the explosion; the case remains under further investigation. The public is urged to remain calm and not to spread unverified information.
“We will communicate the investigation results as soon as possible. Our current focus is ensuring the site is safe and determining the cause of the incident, and we are still maintaining a police line at the crime scene,” he concluded.

“Bomb Squad” does not refer to a specific place or cultural site, but rather to a specialized law enforcement or military unit trained to handle and dispose of explosives. These units have a history dating back to the early 20th century, often developing in response to the increasing use of improvised explosive devices and unexploded ordnance in warfare and terrorism. Forensics team
A forensics team is not a single place or cultural site, but a specialized group of professionals, often associated with a law enforcement or laboratory setting. Their history is rooted in the late 19th century with the development of systematic crime scene investigation, evolving significantly with advancements in fingerprint analysis, DNA testing, and digital forensics. Their primary purpose is to collect, analyze, and interpret physical evidence to aid in legal investigations and establish facts for court proceedings.
