Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung visited the site of a fire that struck a densely populated residential area in Tangki Village, Taman Sari District, West Jakarta. The visit aimed to ensure optimal handling of the fire survivors.

Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government is focused on assisting affected residents and their homes. He emphasized the importance of government presence in helping the recovery process for survivors.

“The Jakarta government must be present to help handle the partially burned houses,” said Pramono.

Pramono explained that most of the houses affected by the fire in that location have clear ownership status, either in the form of Building Use Rights or Ownership Certificates, obtained through the Prona program in 2018.

This program is a free land certification from the government through the National Land Agency.

“Most houses here have Building Use Rights or Ownership Certificates from their participation in the Prona program in 2018. I will look into this further,” he said.

Pramono also ensured that important documents related to the ownership of affected residents’ homes can be reprocessed. He mentioned that the Jakarta Provincial Government also keeps files of ownership documents for residents affected by the incident.

“So since all these documents are available, the Jakarta Government definitely has the files. Because this was part of the Prona program, whether Building Use Rights or Ownership Certificates, I will request that they be accompanied in processing the paperwork. Everything is available,” he explained.

Later, Pramono said that relevant agencies will coordinate with the victims regarding the relocation or rebuilding of their homes. He believes that the majority of victims will choose to remain in the location due to emotional ties and their home ownership status.

Regarding the handling of fire survivors, Pramono confirmed that issues with diapers and other basic needs, especially for toddlers, have been resolved.

“Thankfully, looking at what happened, there were no fatalities. Six people experienced shortness of breath at the time, but they were handled well,” said Pramono.

On this occasion, Pramono also expressed appreciation to the firefighters who deployed 27 vehicles and worked to their fullest. They even managed to rescue residents and 12 cats in this incident.

Furthermore, Pramono also confirmed that the program of one fire extinguisher per neighborhood is still ongoing. However, the fairly strong wind conditions during the fire incident and the abundance of plastic materials caused the fire to spread very quickly.

During his visit, Governor Pramono also symbolically provided assistance to residents affected by the disaster. Currently, the distribution of emergency aid and detailed data collection of affected victims is still ongoing.

The fire incident occurred on Sunday around 10:00 AM and was only extinguished in the evening at 10:50 PM. There were no fatalities in the disaster, although six people experienced shortness of breath and have been treated.

A total of 27 fire trucks and 135 personnel were deployed to the fire location. The incident is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit from a fan in one of the residents’ houses, resulting in a fire covering an area of approximately 8,406 square meters.

The affected area included neighborhoods 05 and 06, with the total number of affected residents reaching approximately 316 families or 1,256 individuals. Six injured victims received medical assistance at the location.

Fire survivors are currently staying in several evacuation locations, including 21 families at Al-Muhajirin Mosque, 44 families at the Tangki Village Office, and approximately 200 families staying with neighbors nearby.

The Jakarta Provincial Government through relevant agencies has also distributed logistical assistance and provided psychosocial support services to affected residents.
