Dr. Le Truong Son, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, has been reappointed as Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law for a 5-year term.
The Minister of Education and Training has issued a decision reappointing Dr. Le Truong Son as Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law for the 2025-2030 term.
This reappointment takes place as the university is restructuring its organization, apparatus, and leadership team in line with Politburo Resolution No. 71 on breakthroughs in education and training development. It also ensures stability, continuity, and development for Ho Chi Minh City University of Law in the new phase.
Dr. Le Truong Son was born in 1971 and is a former student of the 14th cohort at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law. He began working at the university in 1995 and has over 30 years of continuous dedication to the institution.
He has held various professional and managerial positions, ranging from lecturer and administrative officer in functional units to vice rector and rector of the university.
From April 2013 to April 2023, Dr. Le Truong Son served as Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.
From May 2023, he was assigned to lead the university, and on September 14, 2023, he assumed the role of Rector for the 2020-2025 term.
On October 22, 2025, the Minister of Education and Training issued a decision recognizing Dr. Le Truong Son as Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law for the 2025-2030 term.
In his capacity as Rector for the 2026-2031 term, Dr. Son, along with the university’s leadership team, will focus on the key task of continuing to build the university into a leading institution for legal training, a top research and dissemination center for legal sciences in the country, and a higher education establishment that plays a leading role in the system of legal training institutions in Vietnam, with prestige in Southeast Asia and the world, as per the Prime Minister’s decision.
The current executive board of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law includes Dr. Le Truong Son as Rector, along with two Vice Rectors: Professor Dr. Do Van Dai and Associate Professor Dr. Tran Viet Dung.
Additionally, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Van Nhien, Secretary of the Party Committee and former Chairman of the University Council, currently serves as Chairman of the University’s Science and Training Council.
In the coming period, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law will continue to carry out related procedures to complete the policy of having the Party Committee Secretary concurrently serve as the head of the public higher education institution, in accordance with Resolution 71, ensuring compliance with Party regulations, state laws, and the university’s development needs.
Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung has just been appointed as Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics for a 5-year term.
