According to the student work regulations just issued by the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, students must participate in at least one club within the academy’s system for a minimum of 24 months.

When the regulations of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture were shared on the Facebook page “Club of Counseling – Consultation of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture”, they received about 1,700 interactions, including 1,300 “angry” reactions.

Many students of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture expressed frustration, saying that requiring students to participate in school clubs for at least two years is a rigid and compulsory rule. This could easily lead to token participation just to comply with the regulation.

Some students even worried that if they do not participate in a club for the minimum required time, it could affect their graduation eligibility.

In discussions, the Head of the Student Work Department affirmed that the school’s regulation aims to help students step out of their confined spaces, temporarily leave their phones, laptops, and social media, and thereby develop more life skills.

According to him, current school regulations do not state that failing to participate in a club for 24 months will affect graduation.

However, in the future, if students do not meet the required participation time, various sanctions may be applied, such as deducting conduct points, affecting competition and awards, and priority for scholarship consideration.

Based on student feedback, the academy will adjust the regulation to not limit participation to only club activities. Students involved in scientific research, community programs, local volunteer activities, etc., are also expected to be eligible for equivalent credit.

“The academy has not yet determined the highest level of sanctions for students who do not participate in a club for 24 months. In the coming time, the academy will issue specific guidelines to implement this regulation,” he said.

In response to student concerns, the Youth Union of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture also issued a statement confirming that club participation helps students develop skills and is recognized in conduct score evaluations, competition and award work, and Party development among students, and does not create unnecessary pressure on students’ normal activities.

It also requested that when students exchange information online, they must ensure accuracy and objectivity. They should not post or share false, unverified, or illegal content that affects the reputation of organizations or individuals.

As of April 2026, the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture has over 80 clubs, covering diverse fields such as academics, scientific research, culture and arts, sports, media, and volunteer teams and groups.

Each year, the school enrolls 6,000 to 7,000 students. The total training scale is over 20,000 students per year.

The Vietnam Academy of Agriculture has just required students from K69 onward to register and participate in any school club for 24 months during their studies. This new regulation has stirred up students.
