Riyadh Region

The Riyadh Region is the historical heartland of modern Saudi Arabia, serving as the capital district and home to the country’s founding Dir’iyah oasis. It was from Dir’iyah that the First Saudi State was established in the 18th century, cementing the region’s central political and cultural role. Today, the region is a vast and rapidly developing area, where ancient mud-brick ruins stand in contrast to the modern skyline of the capital city, Riyadh.
