The Riyadh Municipality announced a project to humanize central areas in 4 districts with a total length of 14.2 kilometers and an area of 376,000 square meters, as part of initiatives aimed at improving quality of life and enhancing the efficiency of urban infrastructure to meet the needs of residents in “Human Riyadh”.
The project includes the following districts: Al-Rawdah district with a length of 4.4 km and an area of 121,000 m², Al-Rawabi district with a length of 2.8 km and an area of 52,000 m², Al-Suwaidi Al-Gharbi district with a length of 3.5 km and an area of 127,000 m², and Al-Magharzat district with a length of 3.5 km and an area of 76,000 m².
The project includes the implementation of 14 km of pedestrian pathways, over 9 km of bicycle pathways, planting 480,000 trees and shrubs, in addition to providing multiple urban plazas and preparing 4,000 car parking spaces.
The project represents a qualitative step within a series of developmental initiatives aimed at transforming urban spaces into vibrant environments, enhancing recreational, social and economic activities within neighborhoods, and improving urban sustainability through optimal use of spaces and connecting them to vital destinations and essential services.
The project reflects the municipality’s approach to improving the urban environment by preparing public facilities and increasing their functional and visual appeal, providing integrated environments that support modern lifestyles for residents and visitors, contributing to achieving a balance between urban development and community needs, in accordance with sustainability and innovation objectives in urban planning.
The municipality confirmed that the projects will provide added value to the community by creating safe pathways for walking and cycling, achieving integration between open spaces and cultural and recreational activities, which enhances community interaction, and contributes to reducing environmental impact and improving air quality through enhancing green infrastructure.
