The Moscow Department of Transportation has published statistics on the most frequent traffic violations in the capital. More than half (53%) were speeding violations.

According to the department, during the first seven months of 2025, 11.4 million speeding violations were recorded in Moscow. Of these, 98% were cases of exceeding the speed limit by 20-40 km/h.

Another 14% of violations (3.1 million) were related to failure to comply with road markings. This primarily refers to crossing solid lines and island markings. The department added that, when combined with speeding, such violations often lead to accidents.

The third most common violation was neglecting important safety requirements (9%; 1.9 million). This includes not wearing a seatbelt, driving without low-beam headlights, and using a phone while driving.
