Moscow

Moscow is the capital and largest city of Russia, with a history dating back to its first recorded mention in 1147. It grew from a medieval fortress (the Kremlin) into the political and cultural heart of the Russian state, serving as the capital of the Tsardom of Russia, the Soviet Union, and now the modern Russian Federation. Today, it is a major global city renowned for iconic landmarks like Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and the Kremlin itself.

Zamoskvoretsky District Court

The Zamoskvoretsky District Court is a judicial body located in Moscow, Russia, serving the historic Zamoskvorechye area. While the specific court building may not be a historic monument itself, the institution operates within the Russian legal system, which was fundamentally reformed under Tsar Alexander II in the 1860s with the establishment of modern courts. Today, it handles civil and criminal cases for its district, continuing a long tradition of local jurisdiction in the area.

Volokolamskoye Highway

Volokolamskoye Highway is a major radial road in western Moscow, historically significant as part of the route from Moscow to the ancient town of Volokolamsk. It gained tragic prominence during World War II as a key axis of the Battle of Moscow in 1941-1942, where Soviet forces fiercely defended this strategic approach against the German advance. Today, it is a modern transportation artery, with monuments and memorials along its length commemorating the war.
