Krasnodar Today, from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, traffic will be blocked on the even side of Kalinin Street—from Chkalov Street towards Frunze Street.
According to the city’s Transport and Road Infrastructure Department, the restriction is due to emergency water pipe repairs. A rupture occurred on a 300 mm diameter pipeline near building No. 450. The emergency team from Krasnodar Vodokanal has already located the damage and is preparing the site for repairs.
The repair work will be carried out without interrupting the water supply, but the affected section of the road will be completely closed. Drivers are advised to plan alternative routes in advance.
Kalinin Street
Kalinin Street, located in various cities across Russia and former Soviet republics, is typically named after Mikhail Kalinin, a prominent Soviet political figure and nominal head of state from 1919 to 1946. These streets often date back to the Soviet era and were renamed to honor Kalinin’s role in the Bolshevik Revolution and early Soviet government. Today, some have been reverted to historical names post-USSR, while others retain the name as part of their Soviet heritage.
Chkalov Street
Chkalov Street, located in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, is a historic thoroughfare named after the famed Soviet pilot Valery Chkalov. The street is known for its well-preserved 19th-century architecture and serves as a vibrant cultural and commercial hub. It also features landmarks like the Chkalov Staircase, a prominent monument honoring the pilot’s transpolar flight.
Frunze Street
Frunze Street, located in many cities across former Soviet republics, is named after Mikhail Frunze, a prominent Bolshevik military leader during the Russian Revolution and Civil War. Typically found in urban centers like Moscow, Bishkek (where it is a major avenue), and other Soviet-era cities, the street often reflects socialist architecture and historical significance. Today, it serves as a reminder of Soviet influence, with some cities considering or implementing renaming efforts as part of decommunization policies.
