Information about an incident that occurred late in the evening in an apartment building on Kunikova Street in the hero city was published on social media.
According to a man, he was descending in an elevator when the cable snapped at some point. As a result, the resident of the building “experienced weightlessness from the fourteenth to the eighth floor.” The man recounted that at the moment of the fall, he was thrown towards the ceiling, his head hit the elevator’s ceiling lamp, and then he fell into a squatting position, hitting his chin on his knee and “blacking out.”
According to the victim, before the fall, he tried to call the dispatcher, but the calls were dropped. The man reported that the police were called to the scene. He also intends to file a complaint with the management company.
The situation was commented on by the Urban Economy Department of the Novorossiysk Administration.
According to the management company, at 23:15, a request was made to the elevator service organization about a possible elevator stoppage. Specialists arrived at the scene 15 minutes later.
An inspection revealed that all elevators were operational, and no cable breaks were found. According to the specialists, the emergency braking system is functioning normally, and no activation was recorded.
“There were no victims, no ambulance representatives, and no police at the scene. Since the incident, the management company’s office has not received a single request or report of any injuries or accidents,” stated the Urban Economy Department of the Novorossiysk Administration.
It is noted that since 8:00, a search for a possible victim has been conducted through the building’s chat groups. However, as of now, no one has come forward.
The Urban Economy Department added that a possible cause of the incident was a power outage. At the moment of the voltage surge, the person who was in the elevator at the time “might have experienced an illusion of falling, although there was no actual malfunction of the elevator.”
It is reported that all information has been forwarded to the supervisory authorities.
