Krasnodar, September 1 In Novorossiysk, law enforcement officers detained a 25-year-old man from the village of Vasyurinskaya. His accomplices deceived a 75-year-old local woman out of 285 thousand rubles.

At the end of August, the victim received a call from a “delivery service employee.” The fake operator convinced the pensioner to dictate an authorization code.

After that, the scammers, posing as employees of Roskomnadzor, the bank, and the police, informed the woman that her account on the “Gosuslugi” portal had been hacked and that her savings were at risk. The fraudsters forced her to “declare” her savings and hand over 285 thousand rubles to a courier.

The courier took the money from the pensioner, kept part of the sum for himself, and sent the rest to his accomplices.

A criminal case has been initiated against him under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The man faces up to six years in prison and is currently in custody.
