Wednesday, September 17, will be remembered by Tatarstan residents for a scandal involving psychological assistance for children, a report on a plane crash near Kazan, and the beating of a chief mechanic of an auto racing team in the city center. More details are in the material.

Non-childish problems

In Kazan, the 24-hour free medical psychological service “Serdesh” was moved from the city center to its outskirts. It was established back in 2011 after the sinking of the ship “Bulgaria”. Until today, the center was located on Sibirsky Trakt, but now they want to move it to the village of Konstantinovka.

A little statistics: the service, which helps patients around the clock, has received more than 50,000 requests since 2020. Most of them are from minors, for example, those who have been victims of bullying and exhibit suicidal behavior. Now children have to travel to a depressed village where buses don’t always reach.

Parents note that the relocation of the center will create difficulties for patients in obtaining necessary psychological and psychotherapeutic assistance. Some will be forced to refuse it. The Republican Clinical Psychological Hospital stated that doctors, on the contrary, are happy because they will not work in cramped conditions.

Tragic flight

The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) published a report on the crash of a Cessna-172 plane in the Kamsko-Ustyinsky district of Tatarstan in July 2024. Then, as a reminder, 3 people died – the pilot and two passengers. One more person survived but is undergoing long-term rehabilitation. A criminal case was initiated regarding the crash.

If the entire report of more than 40 pages is condensed into one sentence, the conclusion is this: the pilot is to blame for everything. According to the IAC, he performed sharp maneuvers and turns in an aircraft that is essentially not designed for this. Moreover, he might have ignored the stall warning signal – as a result, the plane crashed into the ground at a bank angle.

The owner of the plane was one of the suspects in the criminal case. But at the moment, he remains at large and organizes helicopter flights over Kazan. There is no information about the case either. The Central Investigative Department stated that “all permissible information is posted on the official website of the department and on social networks.” But there has been none since the summer of 2024.

Mysterious beating

In the center of Kazan, the chief mechanic of the auto racing team PSM Sport was beaten. The team leader fears that the case might be hushed up or classified under a very mild article. Therefore, he asked everyone for help, including informational support. In particular, he appealed to the head of Tatarstan.

The leader stated that a group of men, numbering at least four, attacked three members of PSM Sport. The mechanic suffered the most: after being hit, he fell on the pavement and received a serious injury. He was hospitalized in a coma to City Hospital No. 7, where he has been in intensive care for a week. Part of the mechanic’s skull had to be removed.

According to the head of PSM Sport, the investigation is not cooperating with their lawyers, so they have to gather information about the case “bit by bit.” The Ministry of Internal Affairs for Tatarstan stated that one of the suspects had been detained – a young man born in 2006. The case was initiated under the article on causing grievous bodily harm through negligence. This carries a penalty of no more than 3 years of restriction of freedom.

Корабль “Болгария”

The “Bulgaria” was a Soviet-era river cruise ship that sank in the Volga River in 2011, resulting in a major maritime disaster. Originally built in 1955 in Czechoslovakia, it was a popular tourist vessel operating on the Volga-Don waterways. The tragedy, which claimed 122 lives, led to significant changes in Russia’s safety regulations for passenger ships.

Сибірський тракт

The Siberian Route, also known as the Sibirsky Trakt, was a historic road constructed in the late 18th century that connected European Russia to Siberia. It served as a crucial artery for trade, communication, and the forced exile of prisoners to the eastern regions. This route played a significant role in the colonization and economic development of Siberia.

Село Костянтинівка

Konstantinivka is a historic village in Ukraine, primarily known for its 18th-century wooden church, the Church of the Intercession of the Theotokos. It is a significant cultural monument of Ukrainian folk architecture, built using traditional carpentry techniques without a single nail. The site serves as an important example of the region’s historical and religious heritage.

Міждержавний авіаційний комітет

The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) is an executive body of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) that was established in 1991 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Its primary purpose is to coordinate and oversee the use and management of airspace, as well as to investigate aviation accidents and incidents among its member states.

Камсько-Устьїнський район

The Kamsko-Ustyinsky District is an administrative region in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, known for its location at the confluence of the Volga and Kama rivers. Its history is deeply connected to the Volga trade route and the former Volga Bulgaria, a medieval state that was a significant center of commerce. The area is notable for its natural landmark, the Kamsko-Ustyinsky karst area, which features numerous caves that have been inhabited since ancient times.

Cessna-172

The Cessna 172 is not a place or cultural site, but a model of fixed-wing aircraft first produced in 1956. It is the most successful aircraft in history, renowned for its role as a primary trainer for student pilots worldwide and celebrated for its reliability and ease of flight.

PSM Sport

I am unable to provide a summary for “PSM Sport” as it does not appear to be a widely recognized cultural site, landmark, or historical place. It is likely a local sports club, a modern facility, or a business, for which no significant historical information is available in common knowledge sources.

Міська лікарня №7

This is a municipal hospital in Ukraine, which was likely established during the Soviet era to serve the local population. Like many such institutions, its history is tied to the development of the public healthcare system in its city.
