The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced this on June 3.

Due to a recurring foot injury, he officially bids farewell to the Vietnam national team. This is particularly disappointing for Phuong, as he had just returned to the team after more than a year away and had been performing diligently in the national first-division tournament for Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc.

Over the last 5 days of training camp, Phuong only participated in 2 sessions. He joined the first practice on May 30 but later felt pain, forcing him to miss sessions on May 31 and June 1. When he returned to the field on June 2, the injury flared up again.

In Cong Phuong’s absence, head coach Kim Sang-sik decided to call up young forward Nguyen Quoc Viet as a replacement. Quoc Viet is currently training with the Vietnam U22 team and is considered a suitable replacement due to his recent progress and relatively stable form.
