A public minivan crashed into an electric pole in the Sunter area, North Jakarta. There is a sad story behind this accident.
The incident occurred on Sunter Permai Raya Street, RT 02 RW 12, Sunter Agung Village, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta, at 01:20 AM local time.
It is suspected that the accident happened because the driver fell asleep, causing the vehicle to lose control and hit the electric pole. The white minivan, with license plate B-2537-PV, suffered significant front-end damage.
«Due to fatigue and drowsiness, the driver lost control and crashed into a pole by the roadside,» said an official.
It is believed the driver was also exhausted because his parent had passed away earlier that Sunday afternoon.
«The chronology: Earlier that day, the driver’s parent had passed away. After the burial, he immediately returned to work driving the minivan,» the official explained.
Authorities took the driver to the hospital for treatment. Firefighters and local residents worked together to evacuate the minivan stuck on the electric pole.
The evacuation process involved three firefighters and took about 22 minutes. The operation was completed by 01:48 AM local time.
