BEKASI CITY – A member of the Fourth Commission of Bekasi City Council supports the policy of setting Study Groups (Rombel) to 44 students per class in the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for the academic year 2025/2026. The official emphasized that this step aims to optimize the number of elementary graduates that can be accommodated in state junior high schools.

«We all know that the number of elementary school graduates in Bekasi City each year is not proportional to the available state schools. With the implementation of the 44-student Rombel policy, only about 47 percent of elementary graduates will be able to enroll in state junior high schools,» the official said.

According to the official, the Bekasi City Government’s decision to increase the number of students per Rombel to 44 is a concrete response to the majority of parents who hope their children can attend state schools.

“The majority of parents in Bekasi City want their children to enter state junior high schools. However, due to limited capacity, not all can be accommodated. Therefore, expanding Rombel to 44 students serves as a temporary solution,” the official explained.

The official stressed that the Bekasi City Government still supports students who cannot secure spots in state schools. Through partnerships with private schools, the government provides subsidies to students continuing their education in private institutions.

“Even if they cannot enter state junior high schools, the government must step in. Students accepted into private schools receive subsidies. Currently, there is already cooperation between the government and private schools,” the official stated.

The official also called for public understanding regarding the limited capacity of state junior high schools. Nevertheless, the government continues to work toward providing the best solutions to ensure educational rights for all children in Bekasi City.

“This policy reflects local wisdom in new student admissions. The goal is clear: to provide equal and fair opportunities for all children in Bekasi City,” the official said.
