She stated that the accused had proposed marriage to her, but she rejected his offer, which angered him and led to this brutal act. According to the victim, the crime took place in the college guard room, where three men gangraped her. Reports suggest that the main accused is linked to West Bengal’s ruling party, Trinamool Congress.

The student said the accused wanted to marry her, but she refused, citing her existing relationship. After her refusal, he threatened to harm her boyfriend and falsely implicate her parents in a case. He then forcibly confined her inside a college room and assaulted her. Police have registered a case and arrested three individuals so far.

When did the incident occur?
Police reported that the student had gone to the law college around 4 PM on Wednesday for some work. The main accused, Monojit Mishra, allegedly asked her to stay back. Later, the three accused forcibly took her to the guard room on the ground floor of the building, where they raped her. The crime occurred between 7:30 PM and 10:50 PM.

The victim stated in her complaint, «They tried to force me into having sex. I refused and pushed them away. I cried and begged them to let me go. I told them I had a boyfriend whom I loved, but these monsters did not listen.»

According to the complaint, the woman even pleaded at the accused’s feet, but the group allegedly dragged her into the guard room and raped her. The victim said she suffered a panic attack and had difficulty breathing, pleading with the accused to take her to a hospital, but they ignored her.

Threatened with blackmail using video
The complaint states, «They had closed the college’s main gate, and the guard was helpless and did not intervene.» The accused reportedly recorded a video of the assault and blackmailed her into silence. «While raping me, they recorded a video and threatened to release it if I did not cooperate,» she said. When she tried to leave, they attempted to hit her with a hockey stick. The victim was eventually allowed to leave the campus but was threatened with further harm.

Three arrested in the case
After the FIR was filed at Kasba Police Station, police arrested three individuals, including the main accused, Monojit Mishra. Mishra is reportedly a former student and currently serves as the general secretary of Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), the student wing of TMC, in South Kolkata district. The other two accused are 19-year-old first-year student Jaib Ahmed and 20-year-old current student Pramit Mukherjee, alias Pramit Mukhopadhyay.
