MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed Vince Dizon as the new secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) following the resignation of Manuel Bonoan on Monday, September 1.

Upon assuming the position, Dizon immediately ordered the courtesy resignations of all DPWH officials from undersecretary to district engineer as part of a widespread cleanup in the agency.

Simultaneously, the Palace formed an independent commission to investigate anomalies in flood control projects.

Dizon insisted that it cannot be denied that individuals within the DPWH are involved in irregularities in flood control projects and assured that those proven to have benefited will face charges.
