Vice President Sara Duterte on September 16, 2025
MANILA, Philippines — The Palace questioned Vice President Sara Duterte’s “moral ascendancy” when it comes to issues of corruption and irregularities in flood control projects.
“Let’s ask, does the Vice President have moral ascendancy when it comes to the issue of corruption?”, according to Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro.
This was Castro’s reaction to VP Duterte’s statement that President Bongbong Marcos should immediately address the controversy over flood control projects instead of waiting for the results of the newly formed Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Additionally, the Vice President also challenged to conduct lifestyle checks on members of Congress.
Castro again insisted to VP Duterte that investigations do not need to be completed in just one day because the President does not believe in the EJK style where there is no investigation but only ends in a grave.
If the Vice President has a system for how to immediately curb corruption, she should have given it to her father who admitted in 2017 that he was once corrupt and stole but had already used up what he stole.
